This review is right on the money. I know exactly what Craig is saying here because I’ve been in the online space for quite some time now ;). The information in WA is not incorrect, but as Craig said, the process is grossly oversimplified. This is probably intended to draw in newbies more easily. Look at it like this, each of those main steps probably have like 50-100 substeps, if not more, lol. You have to be disciplined, learn and absorb all the theory and apply it, but folks suffer too much from Get Rich Quick mentality and impatience online. Think about it, if it takes REAL work to build a regular bricks and mortar business, what makes you think it won’t take you work to build a business that just simply happens to based online? It is still all within the realm of this universe, law, and universal laws hold haha. Anyway, not meaning to be facetious. All else being equal, the best thing about an business that happens to be based online is the ability it has to SCALE! That’s where the real advantages come in IMHO. Best of luck to you all
The next step? How will you communicate with people. Sharpe says that you need to decide on this early on. Will you blog? Will you use social media? Will you build a list by working with solo ad providers? Will you place paid advertisements? What will you do and how will you do it? What you must realize here is that you have to get really good at copy writing. The better you get at copy writing, the more success you'll find as an internet marketer.

In most blogs I usually skip the post to the end. But your post is one in a million, so I read it from start to finish. I was a member of Wealthy Aff (2007 – 2010, then 2013 -2014). 110% agree with you. It seems that not just the sales letter but thousands of WA members are over praising WA all over the internet, like it will make people money 100% guarantee, while in most cases that just isn’t true. The main method is SEO and thanks to G Panda and Penguin getting ranking takes months and even more time to produce first sale. While it is a good place for beginners, since they walk you through steps like WordPress and important SEO techniques, but it will take time, perhaps years to see result. Which is a problem since WA charges monthly for their training. New members could spend over $500 on WA membership before seeing their first check. Also, I agree with you with the WA Bootcamp part. It misled newbies to promoting back WA while they still fail to make the money. I tried promoting WA myself and it was very hard to make even one sale and even worse, that referral only stayed for 3 months and then cancel his membership. That time I already have experience and made money in other niches. Despite all that, over 100,000++ websites on the internet a promoting WA, especially review sites like onemorecupof-coffee. Those review sites kept bashing other legitimate products like Bring The Fresh and recommending the readers to go for WA instead.
So actually, the reason I personally signed up for Wealthy Affiliate is likely much different than the reason YOU want to sign up. Chances are, you want to learn about how to make money online legitimately, learn how to build a website, how to blog, and more importantly, how to earn money from that blog. I wasn’t looking for that. I already knew how to do all that stuff. Instead, I signed up as a way to vet the training, tools, and resources provided by Wealthy Affiliate because I wanted to see if it was something I could promote on this very website you’re reading.
WA is offering a deal for $299/year. Since they offer keyword and SEO training (and you can get I think 25 websites as a premium member), doesn’t it make sense to use their platform for hosting? I’m a newbie, and planning to start writing content for affiliate marketing (I have no illusions) as well as start a website for a copy editing/proofreading biz. I work full time so I plan on spending the months needed to practice writing blog content and building a business website (yes, using their hosting, since the price is right). Why wouldn’t I host with them, given that they use WordPress? Thanks for your insight!
Yep, WEALTHY AFFILIATE team is trying to find a better way of limiting scam related issues by Nigerians and other black listed countries and allowing them back into the system. Sure, Wealthy Affiliate team want their website to be worldwide. However, at the moment they haven't find any solution yet than restricting those countries to join in WA. We are very sorry for that. After all Wealthy Affiliate also has to maintain their website security.
Some of the harshest criticism of direct customer marketing involves the online space. People who engage in online shopping or even just casual web browsing do not usually like the idea that their movements are being tracked by companies hoping to sell them specific goods or services. Many privacy experts and advocacy groups have tried to lobby for rules against aggressive online tracking in order to preserve personal privacy.
The problem with WA is… they don’t put their members through any sort of review process before they let them set off into the world of internet marketing. Sure, they do provide the resources and coaching needed to make it in IM, but they also do a good job of making it sound so easy. I feel like a lot of folks sign up thinking it’s going to be a convenient way to generate income once they know how to post a blog, install a few plugins in WordPress, and get their affiliate links added.
If you are from Malaysia, you can definitely join Wealthy Affiliate (WA) even as a free member and you can test yourself everything inside WA so that you can find out yourself how much time it needs to finish the course and what WA offers and how can you earn money from there before you upgrade your account in WA. About WA fees, we have clearly mentioned within our WA review as above, so please refer there for details. Normally, members can complete WA courses within 2-3 months if they can provide 2-3 hours per day.
All this post has done is show me how little people actually ‘see’ when they look at something. Everything is in front of them but they can’t see the forest for the trees. Every time someone asked why haven’t I made money after 3, 6, 12 months they are told ‘it takes time – making money online is not get rich quick” so why are commenters knocking wealthy affiliate because they haven’t made money quickly???
In the 19th century, the American retailer, Aaron Montgomery Ward, believed that using the technique of selling products directly to the customer at appealing prices could, if executed effectively and efficiently, revolutionize the market industry and therefore be used as a model for marketing products and creating customer loyalty. The term "direct marketing" was coined long after Montgomery Ward's time.
